Board 5: Sanctuary Spring

This picture shows what is presumably a natural spring in the forest. The water flows off a flat rock and into a river. The spring itself is practically hidden amid the foliage. At least I assume that's what it is from the name, but it's kind of hard to make out what's going on.

Level 1 (Clear 25 red pegs from 98 total - Pro target 350k)

There are two big curves near the bottom, four smaller curves at the top, and a bunch of single round pegs in between and under the bottom curves.

Attempt #1 - No power ups. Score: 501,240
  • Not the best game I've ever played, but it was good enough. The pro target is low and not hard to get to.

Level 2 (Clear 35 red pegs from 104 total - Pro target 325k)

This design has one big convex curve with little upturned ends. There is a little explosion of pegs in each top corner, and a sort of cascade of pegs below the curve.

Attempt #1 - No power ups. Score: 253,050
  • I found this one really quite hard. Lots of loose pegs, and no easy path through to the bucket. I struggled for catches and left a lot of red pegs behind.

Attempt #2 - No power ups. Score: 264,170
  • Again, a long way from clearing the red pegs. Probably a dozen left at least. I'll give it one more go before I add a laser ball.

Attempt #3 - No power ups. Score: 337,120
  • A much better attempt. I had the score that time, and only six red pegs left. That's still quite a lot though, so I'd better use a laser ball.

Attempt #4 - Laser Ball. Score: 873,050
  • No problem with the laser ball. It took a few shots to get through to the yellow peg, but the laser ball scored OK and cleared some space. My catches were generally working a lot better this time, as well. I had a reasonable amount of luck on top of that. I was disappointed, in the end, to miss out on the total clearance by a single peg.

Level 3 (Clear 25 red pegs from 103 total - Pro target 300k)

The third design features two long wavy lines running from top to bottom. Between them, at the bottom, are a couple of convex curves. There is a jumble of round pegs above them, and more round pegs outside the wavy lines. Each wavy line has a number of diamond-shaped pegs coming of it like leaves.

Attempt #1 - No power ups. Score: 337,800
  • Three red pegs left, I think. Again, the catches were awkward, but I feel more hopeful of getting this one without power ups.

Attempt #2 - No power ups. Score: 465,070
  • I had to take a bit of chance at the end. The last two red pegs were next to each other, but I could only see one of them amidst a sea of blue. I shot what I could see with my last ball, in the hope that it would ricochet around onto the final red peg, and luckily, it did.

Level 4 (Clear 25 red pegs from 96 total - Pro target 350k)

The fourth design has tight clusters of round pegs where the densest bushes are, a looser scattering of round pegs is at the bottom. A line of 9 round pegs moves in a wobbly curve from left to right beneath the tight clusters.

Attempt #1 - No power ups. Score: 224,290
  • Just one red peg left, but points are hard to come by here, and I was trying to earn a few more before I took it.

Attempt #2 - No power ups. Score: 212,620
  • I just didn't get any luck this time. Maybe one or two catches, and the balls wouldn't ricochet onto the red pegs.

Attempt #3 - No power ups. Score: 430,570
  • I got a bit more luck that time. I took a few catches, picked up the odd lucky bucket bounce, that sort of thing. There were some planned catches as well, of course.

Level 5 (Clear 25 red pegs from 105 total, with only 8 balls - Pro target 300k)

The fifth design features eight short curves arranged around a diamond design. A few curves of round pegs are at the bottom.

Attempt #1 - No power ups. Score: 419,370
  • This one didn't seem too bad. The curves were quite easy to sweep around, and I got a good first ball that took out three of them. Points weren't that easy to find, but once I'd cleared some space around the sides, I could pick off all the diamond-shaped pegs in the middle for a bunch of easy catches.

Level 6 (Score 300k with 25 red pegs and 79 blue - Pro target 350k)

The same design as level 2, but with 10 fewer red pegs, 25k on the pro target and just a score to go for. Although this doesn't really sound any harder than level 2, I needed a laser ball for that one anyway, so I'll probably need one here too.

Attempt #1 - Laser Ball. Score: 889,040
  • The first ball didn't work very well, but it got a lot better after that. I certainly got the run of the balls towards the end, particularly after I'd passed the pro target and didn't really need it any more! I got a total clearance with a ball or two to spare.

Level 7 (Clear 40 red pegs from 96 total, with a 5s shot-clock - Pro target 375k)

The same design as level 4, but with 15 more red pegs, 25k on the pro target and with a five second shot-clock.

Attempt #1 - Laser Ball. Score: 590,400
  • I didn't too particularly well with the laser ball. I was caught out by the timer and the ball went a little too early. It wasn't too bad though, I still got a bounce off the bucket. My catching and ricochets were working pretty well so that made up for it.

Level 8 (Clear ALL pegs - 25 red and 73 blue - Pro target 425k)

The same design as level 1, but with 75k on the pro target and all pegs now needed.

Attempt #1 - Laser Ball. Score: 657,340
  • Four pegs left, and plenty of points. A pretty good first attempt.

Attempt #2 - Laser Ball. Score: 579,210
  • Four pegs left again. I just need to improve my catching at the end slightly.

Attempt #3 - Laser Ball. Score: 676,000
  • The ricochets went my way a lot better that time. I didn't get onto the yellow peg for a couple of shots, but I was taking lots of catches, and picking up quite a few bonuses, so it worked out OK.

Level 9 (Score 350k with 25 red pegs and 80 blue - Pro target 400k)

The same design as level 5, but with two more balls, 100k on the pro target, and just a score to aim for.

Attempt #1 - No power ups. Score: 181,060
  • I didn't do too well on that one. I'd better go back to the video for level 5 to see if I can pick up any tips.

Attempt #2 - No power ups. Score: 406,810
  • Not particularly impressive, but it was just about good enough. I was down to my last ball before I'd cleared enough of one side to be able to start chipping away at the diamond-shaped pegs in the centre. I didn't miss any catches off them, though, and gradually edged my way to the pro target. As soon as I was within 10k of the target, I took the last red peg for a guaranteed victory.

Level 10 (Clear ALL pegs - 25 red and 78 blue - Pro target 400k)

The same design as level 3, but with 100k on the pro target, and a total clearance now needed.

Attempt #1 - Laser Ball. Score: 500,980
  • I forgot it was an ALL Pegs level and took the last red peg with my last ball thinking it would end, but of course it didn't. I still had quite a few blue pegs left though, so I doubt I would've made it anyway.

Attempt #2 - Laser Ball. Score: 622,960
  • A lot closer that time. I was down to three pegs when my final ball disappeared, although I had been using that ball for quite a few shots at that point.

Attempt #3 - Laser Ball. Score: 793,650
  • I kept the catches going that time. I needed to take out 7 or 8 pegs with the last ball, but I managed it. Points weren't a problem as I'd passed the pro target well before the end.
